Justin Parsons PGA Tour Swing Coach (Coach to Brian Harmon Open Champion 2023)
Interviewer- “You made kind of a strategic blunder though afterwards, you gave away your Secret Weapon”.
Brian Harman talking on @PardonMyTake podcast after winning the 2023 Open Championship.
“I don’t care, I use the the Compressor everyday when I warm up, I really started striking the ball well, mid last year, like a lot better than I’ve statistically done for a long time. It’s good I’d suggest it to anyone”.
Brian Harman
“One thing I’ve noticed over the last 15 years of coaching is that most golfers reach full extension far too early in the golf swing. What’s clear in my mind is the DST Impact Line on the golf club would produce a very simple and effective reminder of where all golfers regardless of ability need to be at impact” Simon Shanks DP World Tour Swing Coach
“When I’m hitting a good shot or striking it well, I’ve always felt like my hands are over my left foot (at impact) and that’s when my hands are forward and its being compressed through the golf ball. So we want to feel like the hands are more forward, keeping the face a lot more square and down the line for a little bit longer. That’s a big deal”. @BrysonDeChambeau
“Impact is the one position where all great players are very similar. This means that while players' swings look different, their club and body positions at the exact moment the club hits the ball are nearly the same”. Getting to a better impact position is the only way to hit more compressed, better golf shots”. Byron Nelson
“I’m sure if the Impact Line was introduced into sets of irons every player would be able to benefit from taking their great feelings on the range onto the course” Ryan Evans Former European Tour Player
“Compressing the ball, that’s what I’ve probably increased more than anything with working with Sean (Foley). I used to try and be very shallow (AoA) and return the club at 90 degrees. I now have a bit of forward lean with the hands at impact and I feel like that really really helps my strike but also stabilises the face through impact as well” Justin Rose
Claude Harmon III giving a lesson to Rick Shiels
“If we clean up and improve the impact, everything’s going to get better”
“A lot of the stuff that I do is basically from general set-up, just to try and make it easier. As the club comes in, obviously there’s already a little bit less loft, I’ve already pre-set that at address” Danny Willett after 2016 Masters win interviewed on Sky Sports by Claude Harmon III
Pete Cowen giving Danny Maude a Ball Striking Lesson
“If you watch players who are actually trying to work on their ball striking, they compress the shaft and the face on the ball, and to do that you’ve got to be in the right position. They turn the face down on the ball and de-loft the face. The face is de-lofted but it’s not shut, from there you control the ball flight, whereas most golfers are throwing the club at the ball. So don’t be frightened to turn the full face down on the ball”.
@olusegunaiyedun4047
YES, i totally agree that the DST impact line should be in all clubs in the bag.
@robo265
I’m surprised this hasn’t been adopted by all manufacturers, it works! I bought both the wedge and 8 iron DST years ago and the difference is incredible
@robs245
100% the DST impact line should be on all clubs. It would make my job as an instructor that much easier. It could be said that club manufacturers are complicit in keeping players from improving by designing clubs that make a flip impact work sometimes/rarely. That hasn’t helped anyone.
@richthomann8405
I’d purchase a set of clubs with the DST line immediately if available!
@kevthepongo
I'd be happy for the DST impact line to be incorporated into clubs. Anything that makes the game easier must be a good thing.
@brianbrookes6559
The impact line is a must for ever Club golfer
@luisalamo7764
I agree the DST impact line SHOULD BE USED BY CLUB MANUFACTURERS
@vnmwinslow1 For me, it all just reinforces where I am trying to get to at impact, and what I need to do with the rest of my swing to get to that point. I remember reading Jack Nicklaus recommending a forward press to start the swing -- it helps to remind me about the correct handle position at impactwrtg.
@DavidErdelyi • 2 years ago
This is a brilliant technology to help golfers everywhere. The questions is would manufacturers sell LESS clubs because someone won't go to buy a new set after they start playing much better golf? - I know I'd buy a set.
@rogersaylor2960
This morning I was fitted for and purchased a new set of Callaway irons. This afternoon, I found the fantastic DST videos and now have a much keener appreciation for the value of this line. Had I seen the videos before hand, I’m not sure I would have purchased the new clubs, since the benefits of the new technology built into them probably pales in comparison to the benefits of visual help achieving a much strong impact position.
@markasplund8768
Makes sense to me. I know I struggle with getting into a proper impact.
@michaeldove1225
Amazing video and info. I am very interested in the DST technology and line. I have 2 year old Taylormade P770 clubs. Is retrofit possible. If so, how? Thanks. Great info!!!
@petermueller6549 I just started using the DST club and it helps me hit the ball more consistently in terms of distance and dispersion. I would like to have the impact line on my clubs to remind me of where I need to be at impact. It would be like the line on my putter.
@NYYANKEES1978 I just bought the DST CR10 8 iron from PGA Tour Superstore yesterday.. I used it today at the range and then played 9 holes. I have NEVER used such an effective training aid in my life and I own 90 percent of every training aids ever made, not sure how I missed this one!! After hitting 40 balls with the DST I then went out and played. I usually hit my 7 iron around 160 and my 4 hybrid around 190 for a frame of reference. I struggle with direction of my approach shots almost every time. Today, 90 percent of my shots went the way I aimed them and I hit my 7 iron 185 yards and my 4 hybrid 220 yards!!!!!!!!!! I was in heaven!!! I have never got such results from any swing trainer and again, I own most of them. This is a miracle, no two ways about it. I always struggled with no lag at impact and now I am getting lag. Can’t wait to see what the coming months will bring!!!!!! Thank you for making the best training aid on the market! By the way I am a 10 handicap and I shot 2 over for 9 holes on a very hard course today!
@luticiaboozergolf3856 This is a simple, but effective way to help players of all levels get to the proper impact position. It would be wonderful if club manufacturers would implement this technology. I wish I could make a straight line on my clubs.
@StueeRoss
Yes please! I’m certain I could hit my Mizunos much better with this simple guide line. Why aren’t they all doing it?!
@davidwelch7304
Had to stop playing due to an accident, and have spinal stenosis. Long story short, looked how after extensive physical therapy I could play once again. DST clubs arrived at Xmas, struggled off mats during winter but have improved amazingly since seeing your videos some 10 months ago. Now able to hit off turf and came 2nd in two competitions and had more birdies, and pars since Xmas than all together in last 30 years. So it works. Have won 5 competitions in last 8 weeks. Swing is smoother, concentrating on impact position more than anything else. Brilliant research and presentation. Well done Bertie
@JohnEvert77
Great vid! I have always struggled understanding the difference between set up and impact position. A recent vid of my swing showed that I was slightly flipping. Am now adjusting to lag impact. Feels different and is definitely more powerful. Need to take a club less on every shot. Drive goes 20 yards further on avg. Yes, would love to have the line on my clubs. How?
@tonyharris7055
I wish I had this impact line on my clubs
@stryker2828
Absolutely should be on the popular irons
@63Baggies
A great presentation to which there can be no rebuttal. How do I get the DST impact line installed on my clubs?
@charleszimmerer8688
Yes I would like it on my clubs
@davedemartin7799
I think it would great if this simple technology were implemented on all clubs - we would all play better and get more enjoyment out of the game!
@josephblankenship6174
Yes, I would like to have this technology on my clubs
@elvinharris4257
Yes, it is a great idea for all golf manufacturers to have the Impact Line incorporated into their clubs!!
@xx-uf6gl Yes, I'd love to this this type of line on all clubs.
@waynecostanza2280

@colinsoder
I want it on my clubs!
@ianknight2053
My Mizunos would benefit from the DST impact line.
@brunoneis1812 • 4 years ago
Yes I believe Callaway Golf would be interested in this technology . Why not ?? It does not change the equipment at all . Just makes the player better
@dougm4nn
This makes plenty of sense to me. You should be praised for the scientific approach you have taken to this. I would like to see it offered by manufacturers
@jamesanderson6392
Hi, just watched your videos for the first time. How do I get this DST impact line on my irons
@locojokl
Please add these on all clubs, these will make the game more enjoyable for everyone
@zoemccabe4059
Yes manufacturers need to get on this visual aid it’s a must for most players
@stickgs
Yes! I'd love to see Mizuno implement this technology on their entire line of irons! Thanks so much for all your research and for sharing! Much appreciated!!
@paulevans6114
I’m a big fan of this approach, brilliant idea.
@qd5683
I think this would clearly benefit a high percentage of amateur golfers across the world - and evidently some pros too! Like all great concepts - it’s simple. Excellent research and design, sir.
@peterlovett8451
This makes total sense to me.
@ralfrelaxingmusic7014
This is definitely a great tool for a better impact position
@jaimegorman8676
I agree this simple enhancement would be great, I’m a Ping player and have been for 40 years!
@jpamador3691
Makes a lot of sense!
@golferforlifetoo
I would purchase irons that incorporated DST technology.
@xlong67
The impact line technology is necessary in golf clubs
@jonchadwick1171 • Starting to be more consistent hitting my DST and it's showing up with my shots. Gained up to 15 to 20 yards carry at best and straighter more often too. Can't speak highly enough about it.
@SUPERGOOSETUBE
My very brief experience with the club I purchased (3 days) has convinced me of one thing: I may never be a great golfer because I lack the full athletic ability, BUT THIS SINGLE LINE HAS HELPED ME MORE THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER DONE. FURTHERMORE, I WILL NEVER --NEVER --PURCHASE ANOTHER CLUB THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE DST IMPACT LINE ON IT! I MAY HAVE TO DRAW IT MYSELF, BUT IF IT IS COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE, THAT IS THE CLUB I WILL BE BUYING. This whole concept is BRILLIANT and works for the worst of us (the group in which I am included!)
@MC_Reds_Mark
Consistently striking the ball well is exactly what all golfers need. How do we get this on my clubs?
@gsgr10
...seriously, we need this!!
@jasonstevens6270
I would love this DST visual aid on my clubs and to be honest I NEED this on my clubs.
@timothypollock8358
I am a golfer who in many periods of my life struck the ball like a tour pro and as I got older and played less (and body changes occurred :-)), I began to struggle often with finding the bottom of the swing effectively to my intense frustration. A couple of years ago I took my clubs to a camp and then went to play 9 holes but had forgotten my 6 iron. The man at the desk was kind enough to let me borrow a game improvement 6 iron. The 6 iron would not sole properly unless it was put in roughly the same position that the DST line promotes. I swung the club a few times and immediately felt something familiar in the way that I was releasing it. Hope flooded my soul and then with a gloriously smooth swing, impact that was deliciously perfect and a soaring shot that seemed to seek the pin as though by laser guidance and sat down like a lawn dart 4 feet short of the pin. Somehow that swing rekindled old feels and I hit virtually every shot like that for the rest of the nine playing those seven holes in two under. A level of play that I hadn't seen in years. The Impact Line sounds like a simpler way to promote the same thing so I'm with you on the concept.
@grahamdrage1289
I would like to see this on my clubs.
@PaulOB1
If the evidence shows its an advantage to have a lag impact, which it does, then only a simpleton would not utilise and benefit from it. I’ve started using it with my swing, and noticed the difference after one session
@rayhoule2302
I would love to have this on my clubs. Great information
@Chrisamici
Absolutely, want the line on my clubs!!
@darcyanddutch
I believe this would be a great but also inexpensive way to help golfers that any golf equipment manufacturer could build into their products. Surprised that none haven't already.
@MarioCharron3046
Best thing I have ever learned about the golf swing.
@markditchfield9427
It makes sense to incorporate this visual aid.
@Bobt98
Looks like a sound idea to me it’s one of my faults
@jdel1991
Would love to have this on my clubs. This would make finding the optimal impact angle so much easier for beginners through to scratch golfers!
@doc2196
Indeed Bertie, I think from what I have seen and heard this would definitely be of value, not only to myself but many others playing this game.
@robchisholm2697
@Dstgolf thanks for the reply. I’m working my way through your online content and its really striking a cord and makes a lot of sense. As mentioned in my iron play I have shaft lean at address. So I have been practicing concentrating on keeping that shaft lean angle as much as practicable at my point of impact. I definitely have a margin of lag. My ball striking has improved as has my dispersion.
@sentientself
There is absolutely no doubt this impact position line is a game-changer and whichever mainstream manufacturer is the first to include it will have a must-have advantage over the others.
@mrnauticool
Can’t play good golf without a good impact! All clubs manufacturers should offer this.
@GouldyGolfer
Yes please! Is it possible to add the DST line after the fact?
@kennovotny5491
This has helped me control the shot way better. I wish the line was on all the clubs. It’s a game changer.
@johnriegert9599
After watching this, I went to the range and envisioned the DST Line on the club. It ties into much of what you laid out in your previous; “If You Play Golf, You Must Watch This Video” - video. Very much like the idea of the DST Line as a reminder of getting into the correct lag position.
@getelen
Wish all my clubs had this.
@davidmcl15
For sure, I want this DST LINE on my clubs. This works, WELL DONE, THIS HAS improved my game and helps prevent the nasty flip.
@IbadanTanco
Great work! you have used science to explain the performance of pros. Everything is clear now and Golf looks simple! I have become your disciple incorporating your lessons.
@1MgySgt
I strive for this impact position. A visual reference built into the club would make this so much easier to accomplish.
@brianstewart9392
I just watched 2 of your videos. Very informative and there is no doubt this would be helpful.
@1upadventures
I geek out on these studies with all their technical details..love it! The way I see it is that it couldn't hurt. I understand the impact position is part of the battle. Knowing what it's supposed to look/feel like. Again, if it's legal I don't see why not to have it on whatever golf club you want. - Bill
@hakirk1
Bertie, this is a great video that proves everything you were teaching in your earlier videos. I asked over a year ago how I could get the lines on my clubs as I live in the USA. I still wish I could have the Impact Lines on my clubs to help improve my mid-septuagenarian game!
@AskaDPT
Great idea. Provides visual feedback to the player which will allow them to make immediate changes to their setup and swing to produce positive results. Nice work on the research and presentation!
@adambrown4
I agree that this would be a very helpful option when ordering clubs and would likely be a deciding factor in choosing one brand over another!
@robertmiles6492
It’s gotta help to prompt us mere mortals into the right position, this should help golfers get better quicker.
@waynepadley1337
I’ve made good progress with this. I have more confidence! Having the line on the club is a great idea.
@garymoovit592
Hi Bertie, another great video, very well explained, as an average golfer I have used lag over the last 3 years with great results, the line would really help.
@pastorj.luface-buildingBlocks I have played two rounds, implementing these technique. I have discovered amazing accuracy with my irons. I am now learning how to make this a habit and breaking from old habits.
@nielsendc1
I think the information here is very important. As a +1 index, the one thing I’m constantly working on is trying to reach the correct impact position, and all swing thoughts and/or set up changes are in service to that effort. So, I totally agree with what this video is communicating.
@claytonkaminski954
It is helpful to understand the geometry of the club head, hosel, shaft, arms and body - that you need to deliver forward shaft lean with compression on the ball for a good strike. Should the DST line be on all irons? Sure! I've had a lot of lessons and been playing for 15 years.... If I could have had clubs with Impact Lines on 10 years ago, it would have made me better faster, absolutely.
@LexKaiba1
Agreed I want this on my clubs!!
@grahambrown4111
I got a club with the Impact Line on at start of the year. My iron game has improved so much. If you’re keen on golf I’d highly recommend this (7 handicapper).
@jasondeleeuw1593
I have been watching DST Golf for around a year now, and I actually have the 8 iron DST Compressor (ordered from Australia) I actually draw the line on all my irons with a permanent marker. I have only been playing golf for around two years (18 Handicap) and I have actually played some of the best rounds since practicing with the DST compressor. And like you mentioned in this video, it actually forms part of your pre shot routine. I actually get myself in the impact position, then return to set-up, so that while playing my shot, I can quickly return again to the impact position, feeling that my hips and torso are where they were second before (Pre shot routine) I definitely know that every golfer would benefit from having the DST Impact Line. Keep up the good work, love all your videos.
@Chris_Traynor
Absolutely should be on clubs! Wonderful visual. It’s really not going to hinder anything either as it’s such a subtle visual which the player can choose to focus on or quite easily ignore if they’re working on something else i.e it’s not a distraction away from over-all design in anyway in my opinion.
@aneelmadhavannair7851
Yes I strongly feel that it will really help golfers if this is made legal to have the DST impact line on clubs.
@darrellduffy3866
Been desperate to try this and I’m very impressed so far, feels very weird to start but ball striking has been vey impressive.
@Ivronix
I definitely need the Impact Lines on my clubs
@Mikelyndacraig
The scientific testing confirms that the DST line technology improves a golfers ability to successfully repeat a lag impact position. If such a line marked on a set of clubs is legal within the rules of golf then club manufacturers would be foolish to ignore such a cheap and easy game improvement for their products. I hope that they see the potential business benefits taking such a step would give them. To me it would be a no brainier, you deserve every success for coming up with such a simple but brilliant idea.
@jacobnorton1
This will never happen. Golf companies marketing strategy is that their clubs will make you better. If their clubs actually make you better, you will have no reason to keep buying their product every few years.
All the best players I know have been using the same clubs for a decade because they know the truth: it's not the club that makes you good, it's your swing. This is the last thing manufacturers want you to figure out.
With that said, I still hope manufacturers start putting the line on their clubs. It's brilliant. I'm just skeptical.
@billglab9044
Yes make the line stock on all clubs!
@Benb55
If we can add a line to the golf ball to help is putt better, why not a line on the clubs to help us hit the ball better. It’s not going to change the fabric of the game. But, it may lead to golfers enjoying the game much more. Plus making learning the game much easier for beginners.
@daventhegreat
100% if the pros use it ... make it available for everyone
@jeffreyanwar6272
Yeah make the line on all clubs!
@sanjaychhabra3546
Definitely something that all clubs should have.
@briancarson1978
Agree all clubs having the impact line would be beneficial to all.
@yousufkooreyshi4526
@Dstgolf Having gone through a plethora of swing changes and tried about every swing there is from Stack’n’Tilt to the single plane etc. I can say with certainty that having implemented DST’s principle. My swing has taken on a complete different level. In fact my golfing buddies can't believe what they’re seeing in me. So there you are.

Yes manufacturers need to get on this visual aid it’s a must for most players
@stickgs
Yes! I'd love to see Mizuno implement this technology on their entire line of irons! Thanks so much for all your research and for sharing! Much appreciated!!
@paulevans6114
I’m a big fan of this approach, brilliant idea.
@qd5683
I think this would clearly benefit a high percentage of amateur golfers across the world - and evidently some pros too! Like all great concepts - it’s simple. Excellent research and design, sir.
@peterlovett8451
This makes total sense to me.
@ralfrelaxingmusic7014
This is definitely a great tool for a better impact position
@jaimegorman8676
I agree this simple enhancement would be great, I’m a Ping player and have been for 40 years!
@jpamador3691
Makes a lot of sense!
@golferforlifetoo
I would purchase irons that incorporated DST technology.
@xlong67
The impact line technology is necessary in golf clubs
@jonchadwick1171 • Starting to be more consistent hitting my DST and it's showing up with my shots. Gained up to 15 to 20 yards carry at best and straighter more often too. Can't speak highly enough about it.
@SUPERGOOSETUBE
@MC_Reds_Mark
Consistently striking the ball well is exactly what all golfers need. How do we get this on my clubs?
@gsgr10
...seriously, we need this!!
@jasonstevens6270
I would love this DST visual aid on my clubs and to be honest I NEED this on my clubs.
@timothypollock8358
@grahamdrage1289
I would like to see this on my clubs.
@PaulOB1
If the evidence shows its an advantage to have a lag impact, which it does, then only a simpleton would not utilise and benefit from it. I’ve started using it with my swing, and noticed the difference after one session
@rayhoule2302
I would love to have this on my clubs. Great information
@Chrisamici
Absolutely, want the line on my clubs!!
@darcyanddutch
I believe this would be a great but also inexpensive way to help golfers that any golf equipment manufacturer could build into their products. Surprised that none haven't already.
@MarioCharron3046
Best thing I have ever learned about the golf swing.
@markditchfield9427
It makes sense to incorporate this visual aid.
@Bobt98
Looks like a sound idea to me it’s one of my faults
@jdel1991
Would love to have this on my clubs. This would make finding the optimal impact angle so much easier for beginners through to scratch golfers!
@doc2196
Indeed Bertie, I think from what I have seen and heard this would definitely be of value, not only to myself but many others playing this game.
@robchisholm2697
@sentientself
There is absolutely no doubt this impact position line is a game-changer and whichever mainstream manufacturer is the first to include it will have a must-have advantage over the others.
@mrnauticool
Can’t play good golf without a good impact! All clubs manufacturers should offer this.
@GouldyGolfer
Yes please! Is it possible to add the DST line after the fact?
@kennovotny5491
This has helped me control the shot way better. I wish the line was on all the clubs. It’s a game changer.
@johnriegert9599
After watching this, I went to the range and envisioned the DST Line on the club. It ties into much of what you laid out in your previous; “If You Play Golf, You Must Watch This Video” - video. Very much like the idea of the DST Line as a reminder of getting into the correct lag position.
@getelen
Wish all my clubs had this.
@davidmcl15
For sure, I want this DST LINE on my clubs. This works, WELL DONE, THIS HAS improved my game and helps prevent the nasty flip.
@IbadanTanco
Great work! you have used science to explain the performance of pros. Everything is clear now and Golf looks simple! I have become your disciple incorporating your lessons.
@1MgySgt
I strive for this impact position. A visual reference built into the club would make this so much easier to accomplish.
@brianstewart9392
I just watched 2 of your videos. Very informative and there is no doubt this would be helpful.
@1upadventures
I geek out on these studies with all their technical details..love it! The way I see it is that it couldn't hurt. I understand the impact position is part of the battle. Knowing what it's supposed to look/feel like. Again, if it's legal I don't see why not to have it on whatever golf club you want. - Bill
@hakirk1
Bertie, this is a great video that proves everything you were teaching in your earlier videos. I asked over a year ago how I could get the lines on my clubs as I live in the USA. I still wish I could have the Impact Lines on my clubs to help improve my mid-septuagenarian game!
@AskaDPT
Great idea. Provides visual feedback to the player which will allow them to make immediate changes to their setup and swing to produce positive results. Nice work on the research and presentation!
@adambrown4
I agree that this would be a very helpful option when ordering clubs and would likely be a deciding factor in choosing one brand over another!
@robertmiles6492
It’s gotta help to prompt us mere mortals into the right position, this should help golfers get better quicker.
@waynepadley1337
I’ve made good progress with this. I have more confidence! Having the line on the club is a great idea.
@garymoovit592
@nielsendc1
I think the information here is very important. As a +1 index, the one thing I’m constantly working on is trying to reach the correct impact position, and all swing thoughts and/or set up changes are in service to that effort. So, I totally agree with what this video is communicating.
@claytonkaminski954
@LexKaiba1
Agreed I want this on my clubs!!
@grahambrown4111
I got a club with the Impact Line on at start of the year. My iron game has improved so much. If you’re keen on golf I’d highly recommend this (7 handicapper).
@jasondeleeuw1593
@Chris_Traynor
Absolutely should be on clubs! Wonderful visual. It’s really not going to hinder anything either as it’s such a subtle visual which the player can choose to focus on or quite easily ignore if they’re working on something else i.e it’s not a distraction away from over-all design in anyway in my opinion.
@aneelmadhavannair7851
Yes I strongly feel that it will really help golfers if this is made legal to have the DST impact line on clubs.
@darrellduffy3866
Been desperate to try this and I’m very impressed so far, feels very weird to start but ball striking has been vey impressive.
@Ivronix
I definitely need the Impact Lines on my clubs
@Mikelyndacraig
@jacobnorton1
@billglab9044
Yes make the line stock on all clubs!
@Benb55
If we can add a line to the golf ball to help is putt better, why not a line on the clubs to help us hit the ball better. It’s not going to change the fabric of the game. But, it may lead to golfers enjoying the game much more. Plus making learning the game much easier for beginners.
@daventhegreat
100% if the pros use it ... make it available for everyone
@jeffreyanwar6272
Yeah make the line on all clubs!
@sanjaychhabra3546
Definitely something that all clubs should have.
@briancarson1978
Agree all clubs having the impact line would be beneficial to all.
@yousufkooreyshi4526
